At Steeky Meadow we’d be delighted to host and facilitate your youth or school group. The benefits of getting close to nature, exploring, and being creative outdoors are many. And it’s just great fun having a mini adventure. Your visit will be tailored to your group but we can offer a mix of any of the activities below:
- Countryside skills such as coppicing and hurdle making.
- Outdoor cooking over an open fire.
- Nature exploration and wildlife identification.
- Nature treasure trail.
- Using the big, two-person crosscut saw.
- Peace and tranquility down by the stream.
- Certain activities are weather and season dependent.
- Activities can be linked to the curriculum.

Steeky Meadow has been an invaluable resource for our Tavistock Youth Cafe wellbeing sessions.
Jack and Grum have created the perfect setting for young people to engage in meaningful outdoor activities, helping to nurture both their physical and mental health.
We’ve had the pleasure of taking our groups there for a range of hands-on experiences over the years, from coppicing and hurdle building to plant identification, stream sampling, and a very memorable (maybe for the wrong reasons) spoon carving workshop.
These activities are not only fun but also create lasting memories for our young people.
The peaceful natural environment of Steeky Meadow truly enhances our sessions, fostering teamwork, creativity, and a deep appreciation for nature.
